THREAD LIFT

Anti Aging
Campaigne
What is the Thread Lift?
Sometimes referred to as the ‘non-surgical facelift‘, Thread Lift is a minimally-invasive treatment that lifts sagging or ageing areas of the face without the need for sedation or a hospital stay. It is performed under local anaesthesia, with patients able to walk-out and return home a short while after.
The Thread Lift is the latest and revolutionary form of facial acupuncture aiming to eliminate wrinkles, increase the thickness of skin, tighten sagging skin, rejuvenate and lift the skin. This method originated in South Korea and gradually spread throughout the world.
It stimulates collagen production. Collagen fibers are the major components of the connective tissue in skin, which are involved in maintaining the skin elasticity and firmness.
Usually around 10-120 threads are inserted at one time depending on the indication. These straight and smooth threads are mounted on a 25G-31G needle, inserted into the skin, where due to the folding of the thread on the needle mount, it becomes a ‘V’ shape and remains in the skin.9 These threads are most usually made of polydioxanone (PDO)
WHAT ARE PDO THREADS?
This minimally invasive procedure uses dissolvable PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are made of a soluble material used in medicine for many years, mainly in surgery. PDO relaxes muscles and tendons while stimulating the production of new collagen in the skin. PDO also stimulates the production of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, vital for creating a youthful looking skin.
The PDO threads offer a number of specific benefits:
-
threads have no cones, thus no damage to the tissue
-
excellent safety record - the same thread used in cardiac and other surgical sutures
-
ultra-fine threads are naturally broken down within the body over 6-8 months, although the results naturally 'wear off' over around 18 months
-
transparent material invisible within the skin
RESULTS OF PDO THREAD LIFT
The PDO lift has a series of benefits
PDO threads dissolve into your body between 3 to 4 months and during this period of time, your skin generates networks of collagen and elastin fibers around these threads, resulting in a umber of benefits, such as:
– Substantial wrinkle reduction
– Tightened skin pores
– Improved skin tone
– Improved skin color
– Slowing down skin aging
– Rejuvenated skin
– Hydrated skin
– Lifted sagging skin
– Slowing down skin photoaging
How is the Thread Lift performed?
The Thread Lift is a non-surgical technique performed by using fine acupuncture needles. The procedure requires two steps: first is the application of topical anesthetic cream on the face where the treatment procedure is done. Second, is the implanting the threads under the skin.
This method is extremely safe and minimally invasive. It has minimum downtime .
What should I expect after treatment?
As with any cosmetic treatment, there might be some temporary swelling, redness or bruising. This usually passes within a couple of days.
Results take around 4-6 weeks to fully develop. Does it hurt?
The procedure will normally take around 30-60 minutes. As a thread lift treatment isn’t particularly invasive, pain is kept to a minimum. A local anaesthetic is used during the procedure to prevent soreness, and you may experience some discomfort in the days following the procedure. You may require pain relief during your recovery, which your doctor will advise on.
How long will result last?
The results can be seen immediately. Longevity varies from patient to patient, but results can last up to 18 months.
Are there any side effects?
Patients may experience light bruising for the first 2-5 days after the procedure. In some cases, a slight depression, bunching, or irregularity of the skin may appear at entry points of the sutures, but again this should subside within a week.
Am I suitable for a Threads Lift?
Threads Lift is normally recommended for those over 30 who are tackling moderate signs of ageing. Suitable patients will be seeking a more dramatic difference than wrinkle injections or fillers, but without the trauma of a full facelift. The treatment is suitable for all skin types, but those who are allergic or sensitive to bio-materials are advised to speak to their doctor as the procedure could cause a reaction.
Any special aftercare requirements?
We recommend:
-
avoid other facial/beauty treatments for 2 weeks
-
avoid dental work for a month
-
avoid exercise for 2 weeks and contact sports for the first 4 weeks
Does it hurt?
The procedure is carried out using a local anaesthetic cream.
Is this just for the face?
No - the PDO threads can be applied on the body too and can help with a number of areas:
-
lifting and rejuvenating loose abdominal skin (tummy)
-
lifting of breast tissue
-
regenerating the decolletage
-
shoulders, forearm, elbows, calves or knees...
Who cannot have PDO thread lifting?
We do not advise this treatment for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, those with a tendency to keloid scarring, active skin infections, open wounds, skin lesions or autoimmune diseases.
