HAIR TREATMENTS

Hair has no vital function in humans, yet its psychological functions are extremely important. Loss of hair from the scalp is distressing as is the growth of body or facial hair in excess of the culturally accepted norm.
Causes of hairfall
The causes of hair loss (alopecia) are numerous.
MALE PATTERN HAIRLOSS
Male pattern baldness is inherited and androgen dependent. Over several cycles the hair follicles in the affected areas convert from terminal to vellus hairs ie. the thick black hair gets converted to fine, short hairs. Males are affected from the second decade, and by the 7th decade, 80% have involvement. In men, bitemporal recession followed by a bald crown is the usual pattern .
Androgenetic alopecia also occurs in females, the majority of whom are hormonally normal. It becomes more pronounced after the menopause and is present in 50% of 50-year-old women. Women may show this but more commonly exhibit a diffuse thinning.
Treatment is customized and a step wise approach is followed. Initially we treat with topical preparations and hair supplements. Next step will be mesotherapy. And last and definite treatment will be Hair transplantation.
HAIRFALL FOLLOWING CHILDBIRTH
Mothers will experience reduce hairfall during entire pregnancy and post delivery after about 3 months many of the mothers experience tremendous hairfall. The daily loss ranges from under 100 to over 1000. If the lower rates of shedding are continued for only a short period there may be no obvious baldness, but if shedding occurs at higher rates, diffuse reduction in hair density is produced. It may be severe but is never total. Spontaneous complete regrowth occurs within 3–6 months.
