MEDICAL SKIN PEEL

One of the main factors influencing skin health is the speed in which our skin renews itself. As children, this process happens quickly and our skin layers rapidly regenerate. This process slows down as we age and as a result, our skin begins to appear less radiant, less vibrant over time.
"Medical Skin Peels use naturally derived fruit acids such as
Lactic, Mandelic, Glycolic and Salicylic to exfoliate the surface
of the skin and improve a number of skin concerns. By removing
dull, dead cells from the skins surface, skin peels immediately
reduce open pores, blemishes and fine lines."
Introducing a light skin peel into your skin maintenance program may help restore your skin's youthful tone and texture. With peels, solutions are applied topically to rejuvenate the skin's surface by causing the even and controlled shedding of several layers of skin cells to expose new, undamaged layers that are softer and smoother with more even skin tones. Chemical peels also stimulate the dermis to create new skin cells, collagen, and elastin that support and tighten the surface of the skin. Specific chemicals, enzymes, and solution strengths may be particularly effective for different skin conditions such as uneven pigmentation, wrinkles, acne, scarring, dry skin, or rosacea prone/sensitive skin. The type of peel depends on the strength of the solution used and the depth of penetration. Treatment takes approximately 15 minutes. Downtime is dependent on the strength and type of peel.
We offers a range of peels, from light to more penetrating peeling agents. During the initial consultation, our dermatologist will discuss your current skincare regime and determine if a peel should be part of your skin maintenance program.
Benefits include:
-
Brighter, more radiant skin
-
Reduction in break outs/ blemishes
-
Rejuvenated & hydrated skin
-
Improvement of skin strength & general condition
-
Reduction in visible signs of ageing
What happens during the treatment?
The skin is cleansed. The specific skin peel is then applied. The final steps include after care products being applied such as serums and an SPF to protect the skin from UVA & UVB rays. Skin Peel treatments can take up to 45mins depending on the severity of the skin needs and the type of peel.
The sensation of skin peels will vary from person to person – this is due to skin tolerance, skin condition, severity of a skin complaint and the strength of the peel. Most common feelings from skin peels are; tingling, warmth and tightness. These all mean the active ingredients are penetrating the lower layers of the skin and are getting to work.
Is there any down-time?
This depends on both what concern you’re treating and the results you’re hoping to achieve. Your practitioner will explain the possibility of down time with you prior to starting the treatment (you may experience peeling with some of our strongest peels), however there’s no long terms damage to the skin from peels.
How many treatments will I need?
The active ingredients in skin peels means that you will notice an instant brightening effect after a single treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a course of skin peels. Treatment intervals will depend on the strength of the peel, however your practitioner will advise you on the correct plan to ensure maximum results.
