Other specific precipitants include birth control pills, estrogen replacement therapy, mild ovarian or thyroid dysfunction, cosmetics, nutrition, phototoxic and photoallergic medications, medications for epilepsy.
It is seen in both males and females, seen more commonly in females especially those of reproductive age group and people with darker skin.
3 patterns are seen:

Centrofacial : forehead, nose, chin and upper lip
-
Malar : cheeks
-
Mandibular : Jawline
We will see it under the Wood’s lamp and further classify according to its appearance, which will help us in making a prognosis and response to our treatment plan. It is a difficult to treat condition and requires patience on patient’s part. Maintenance is required.
