Irresistible itching in the night?

You might be having scabies!! 

One of the many conditions I come across in my clinic,  Scabies is also one of them.  Of course in my residency the condition used to represent 50% of the daily opd patients!  Seriously i never expected to come across this in my private clinic,  that too so frequently. 

Scabies is a skin rash caused due to a mite Sarcoptes scabiei.  It is transmitted by touch or sharing articles maybe at home,  or work place or public places(that  explains why its common in my practice) 

If you experience intence itching all over the body or few specifics like the folds between the finger,  wrist or elbow,  underarms,  leg,  around the nipple (mainly in women)  and around genitalia (commonly in children or men),  that you cna condiser yourself to have the dreaded mite! 

But luckily its not so difficult to treat.  Few anti-mite medications from your dermatologist could save your day.... Or rather your night! (Scabies is one of the few conditions which causes intense itching aggravating in the night,  and hence disturbing sleep) 

Do your laundry for all the clothes and beddings used one week prior to the application of medications.
